Trama
La mattina del 9 settembre 2004 la produttrice della CBS News Mary Mapes aveva tutte le ragioni per essere orgogliosa del suo servizio giornalistico. Ma alla fine di quella giornata, lei, la CBS News, e il famoso conduttore di 60 Minutes, Dan Rather, furono messi a dura prova. La sera precedente la trasmissione aveva mandato in onda un reportage investigativo nel quale venivano rivelate delle prove secondo cui il Presidente George W. Bush aveva trascurato il suo dovere nel periodo in cui prestava servizio come pilota nella Guardia Nazionale dell'Aeronautica del Texas, dal 1968 al 1974. Ma a pochi giorni dallo scandalo, i registri del servizio militare di Bush smisero di essere al centro dell'attenzione dei media e del pubblico, e da quel momento in poi, furono 60 Minutes, la Mapes e Rather a passare sotto alla lente di ingrandimento. Truth è tratto dal libro scritto da Mary Mapes, intitolato "Truth and Duty: The Press, the President, and the Privilege of Power", e pubblicato nel 2015.
