Trama
Inghilterra, 1763. Dopo essere stata condannata per un crimine, la giovane e bella Abigail Hale accetta, per sfuggire alla forca, di servire quattordici anni come schiava nella colonia della Virginia, i cui abitanti cominciano a sentire e temere il minaccioso canto dei tamburi di guerra che riecheggia nella selvaggia valle del fiume Ohio.
