Due bande di gangster si contendono la supremazia a Chicago: a ogni azione criminale dell'una fa seguito l'immediata risposta dell'altra. La lotta diventa sempre più crudele e sanguinaria: uno dei capi muore, l'altro viene abbandonato dai suoi uomini.
